If you're wondering where to go to the beach in Marche, the answer is simple: anywhere you like! The Adriatic coast definitely doesn't stop at Rimini, quite the opposite.

The beaches of Marche are just like the whole region: incredibly diverse! There are so many beautiful ones, perfect for every taste: from rocky coves to vast sandy stretches, from hidden, wild spots to those fully equipped with all the modern comforts for families.

And guess what? The beauty you'll find in Marche isn't just limited to the beaches. Here, with every step, history, art, culture, and nature all come together in a wonderful blend. If you love hiking, you can explore the lush green Sibillini Mountains; if adventure calls, you can discover the natural wonders of the Frasassi Caves; and culture buffs will be enchanted by Recanati's Leopardi treasures and the majestic Sanctuary of Loreto.

The 6 Most Beautiful Beaches in Conero

Let's kick things off with Conero, one of the most famous and loved spots along the Marche coast. This 'almost mountain' (it's just over 500m tall), lush and green, plunges right into the sea, offering some of the most spectacular beaches in the whole region.

1) Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle

It's the most famous and arguably the most beautiful beach on the entire Conero Riviera. Maybe it's its white pebble and super light sand that reminds you of Caribbean beaches; maybe it's its wild and untouched charm; or maybe it's because the turquoise, crystal-clear sea playing tag with the white cliff overlooking it just grabs you from the first moment. Whatever it is, Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle is one of the most beautiful spots when you're thinking about the sea in Marche.

It gets its name from the two almost twin sea stacks that stand guard over the beach, and they're a real treat for anyone who loves snorkeling and diving.

You'll find the Due Sorelle Beach in the Municipality of Sirolo (AN).

How to get there

You can only reach the beach by sea. Ferry services are available throughout the day from nearby Sirolo, Numana, and Marcelli.

There's also a path to the beach that starts from the top of Mount Conero. It's the famous Lupo Pass trail, which is currently closed for safety reasons. However, if you love nature and want an amazing view of the beach from above, you can still walk it up to the pass (just avoid going down to the sea). It's a real panoramic balcony overlooking the Adriatic coast.

In this paradise, you won't find any beach clubs or services. Everything is left as it is: wild and untouched. So, it's important to bring your own food and, especially, plenty of water.

2) Urbani Beach

You'll find it at the foot of the charming village of Sirolo, nestled in a small, picturesque cove. This crescent-shaped beach boasts beautiful, incredibly clear waters with colors that constantly change throughout the day. Plus, thanks to a protective rock barrier, the water is almost always calm.

If you come here, don't forget to check out the Urbani Cave. Hidden in the south corner of the beach, it's a true natural beauty offering a stunning glimpse of the sea. Needless to say, the view at sunrise and sunset is absolutely priceless.

How to get there

You can reach the beach by car, public transport, or on foot from Sirolo.

BY CAR: There are two paid parking lots available. The first is just outside the town center and is further from the beach, so you'll need to walk a few minutes to get there.

The second one is right next to the beach, but spaces are limited, especially during peak times. It's tough to find a spot unless you arrive super early.

BUS/SHUTTLES: There are several local shuttles and buses that take you to the beach, departing from various spots in Sirolo.

ON FOOT: The path to get there is really lovely, surrounded by greenery, and offers spectacular views in some spots. Just a heads-up: it's an easy walk on the way there because it's all downhill; on the way back, it's probably best to avoid it during the hottest parts of the day.

You'll find some equipped beach clubs and small sections of free beach. Just one downside: the beach is already in the shade by around 5 PM.

3) Sassi Neri Beach

Named for the dark rocks on its seabed and the cliffs surrounding it, Sassi Neri Beach is one of the wildest beaches in Marche.

You won't find many comforts here, making it perfect for those who want to enjoy the sea with complete freedom and relaxation.

You'll find Sassi Neri Beach in the Municipality of Sirolo (AN).

How to get there

The beach is easily accessible via bus and shuttle services that depart from Sirolo town.

You can also walk here from the nearby San Michele Beach or take one of the many trails through the lush greenery of Mount Conero. Just a heads-up, the path can be a bit tricky, so comfy shoes are a good idea!

This beach doesn't have any facilities, but you'll find plenty of spots with services at the nearby San Michele Beach.

4) Spiaggia dei Frati

The sea here is so incredibly clear you can easily see the sandy bottom! It's a really well-equipped beach, perfect for snorkeling or for those who love diving off the many rocks that pop out of the water. The most famous one is the 'Bò rock,' named because it looks just like an ox.

The Spiaggia dei Frati is located in the municipality of Numana (AN).

How to get there

From Numana's town center, you can take a paved road downhill. Once you reach Spiaggiola, just keep going along the coast until you find Spiaggia del Frate.

If you walk along the beach from Numana's tourist port, you'll first come across Spiaggiola, and then Spiaggia del Frate.

From Numana's Piazza Nuova, you can follow a marked path down to Spiaggiola, and then continue on to Spiaggia del Frate.

You'll find a beach club here where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds.
There's also a small, free beach area, but it's pretty limited.

5) Baia di Portonovo

The Baia di Portonovo is a real little gem on the Conero Riviera. It's also known as Green Bay because the sea and nature come together in a big hug here, making it a must-visit spot if you're looking for clean beaches in the Marche region.

The sea here is such a stunning turquoise, it looks like a painter created it! The beach itself has rocks, pebbles, and gravel, and it's great for everyone, both grown-ups and kids.

Just a heads-up though: the sea gets deep pretty quickly, even just a few meters from the shore. This makes it perfect for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts! But if you have little ones, you'll want to keep a closer eye on them.

Portonovo is a favorite spot for surf and windsurf lovers who enjoy catching waves in the southern part of the Bay, especially near the Vela rock.

The Baia di Portonovo is located in the municipality of Poggio di Ancona (AN).

How to get there

You can easily get to the Bay by car or by bus.

If you're coming by car, just remember that parking is limited and mostly reserved for restaurant and beach club guests. Our tip is to leave your car in the big parking area before you start the downhill road to the Bay. From there, you can hop on the continuous shuttle bus service.

Alternatively, you can use the bus services that run from Ancona and other main spots along the Conero Riviera.

Marche: Northern Beaches

When we talk about seaside spots in the Marche region, we definitely have to mention the northern beaches. They're quite different from those in Conero Park, offering a true paradise for anyone who loves endless stretches of sand.

Senigallia's 'Velvet Beach'

Well, what can I say... The name pretty much speaks for itself! A good 14 km of coastline so soft and delicate, it truly feels like velvet.

Senigallia's beach is the most famous in the Marche region. Since 1853, it's been one of the most sought-after seaside resorts on the Adriatic coast, and since 1997, it's continuously received the Blue Flag award for its clear, clean, and safe sea, quality hospitality, and excellent environmental management.

The beach is divided into two main areas:

Levante Beach: This part stretches south of the historic center. It's definitely the most chic area, packed with all sorts of services and perhaps the most cutting-edge beach clubs in the entire region (in some, you can even book sunbeds and umbrellas via an app). The beaches are huge, and the sea is perfect for a dip, surrounded by all the comforts a seaside town can offer.
In the evening, it's the nightlife hub, where all the trendiest spots are concentrated.

Ponente Beach: This part stretches north of the historic center and corresponds to the old marina. It's definitely less chaotic than Levante Beach and also closer to Senigallia's center. Thanks to the offshore rocks, the sea here is practically always calm, and the water stays shallow up to 30-40 meters from the shore.

Gabbiani Beach in Fano

This beach is located in Modonna Ponte and is a gravel beach. It's perfect for both relaxation and fun because it's divided into 3 zones:

– one where children can play freely in specially organized areas for them
– one where sports enthusiasts can run and engage in physical activity
– one entirely dedicated to sun and relaxation lovers

The sea is clear and crystal-blue, and the beach is very convenient, also thanks to parking just a few tens of meters away.

Sassonia Beach in Fano

It's one of the most beloved beaches by Fano locals and generally by those who aren't keen on sand. In fact, its name comes from the characteristics of the shoreline, which features stones and pebbles brought down over the centuries by the Metauro River.
The area is very well-equipped and also suitable for children.

Fano Lido

It's a historic beach, established as a seaside resort in the 9th century. The beach is equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, and play areas, and in the evening, it's very popular, also thanks to nearby pizzerias, ice cream parlors, and more.

The Lido truly has its own charm, thanks to the lighthouse standing tall nearby and the long promenade perfect for strolls. It's the perfect seaside resort in Marche for those traveling with small children: the seabed is shallow and sandy, and the water is generally warm.

Marotta

Marotta is the perfect example of a beach in Marche where tourists aren't too many, and the sea remains pristine and clean. The coastline is long and sandy, and the beaches have all the necessary services.

Vallugola Beach – Pesaro

Vallugola Beach is located within the bay of the same name, nestled between the headlands of Gabicce and Castel di Mezzo.

It's a not-so-large beach of gravel and pebbles, nestled in a well-preserved natural setting and made even more beautiful by the nearby cliff of Monte San Bartolo. The sea is crystal clear and transparent, with seabeds that gently slope outwards.
The small harbor nearby is also very charming.

Fiorenzuola di Focara

It's a medieval village overlooking the sea, part of the Monte San Bartolo Regional Park. From the village, in just a 20-minute walk, you can reach a splendid little beach, ideal for lovers of relaxation and nature. There are no services here, and the beach is completely immersed in the pristine greenery of the Park.

Marche sea: where to go in the south of the region?

The southern Marche region also boasts a beautiful sea and large, well-equipped beaches. Here are two of our favorites: Grottamare Beach and San Benedetto del Tronto Beach.

Grottamare Beach

Grottammare sits right on the Adriatic coast, surrounded by lush green pine forests, orange groves, and palm trees. Its golden beaches and crystal-clear sea are simply stunning. The clean waters, super fine sand, charming views of the old town, and vibrant greenery all come together to create a unique blend of colors and forgotten scents that make this town and its beach truly special.

San Benedetto del Tronto

This is the famous Palm Riviera, definitely one of the most loved seaside spots in the southern Marche region. In summer, the town feels almost exotic, thanks to its thirteen different varieties of palm trees.

Along the 4km of fine, golden sand that stretches along San Benedetto del Tronto, you'll find plenty of well-equipped beach areas. The beach clubs here offer all the comforts you need for a super relaxing and fun vacation for both adults and kids. Some even have special entertainers to keep the little ones happy!
